As the Houlihan Lawrence Class Action Lawsuit continues moving through the court system, currently in mediation, with the next hearing scheduled for August 15th at 10:00 AM, JND Legal Administration (JND) has taken several steps to keep the class members aware of the lawsuits progress. In a June 15th filing with the Supreme Court of the state of New York County of Westchester, Index: 60767/2018, JND updated the court on the work completed on the lawsuit.
According to the filing, JND has sent out 9,623 email notices, 9,766 direct mail notices and has established a dedicated public website. The website serves as a centralized hub for information, updates, court documents, and essential dates related to the case by establishing this online platform J&D has empowered class members with readily available resources enabling them to stay informed and actively participate in the proceedings.
The lawsuit, filed on July 14, 2018, alleges that Houlihan & Lawrence, the leading real estate brokerage in the northern suburbs of New York City, breached fiduciary duties and engaged in deceptive and misleading business practices by acting as a “dual agent” representing both the seller and the buyer. The Class consists of all home buyers and sellers of residential real estate in Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties from January 1, 2011, through July 14, 2018, in which Houlihan & Lawrence represented both buyer and seller in the same transaction, except for those who entered into an arbitration agreement with Houlihan Lawrence.
